(1) Stella Maru
The Stella Maru was sunk deliberately in 1987 to create an artificial reef. It is located just in front of Trou aux Biches in the north-west of the island. It rests on a sandy bottom 26-28m. Until February 2002, it rested on its side, but after Hurricane Dhina, the wreckage was recovered. Following Cyclone Gerry, in 2003, much of the superstructure has been destroyed. The wreck is inhabited by large tame moray eels, fish, stones and a fairly small abundant marine wildlife.
